A Victorian house located in Shelburne’s Historic District and 100 yards from Shelburne harbour. At the bottom of John Street, you can enjoy a lovely walk along the town’s historic waterfront to the yacht club, marina, Osprey Arts Centre and museums while enjoying views of undeveloped areas on the opposite side of the harbour. This circa 1864 house stands on cut granite foundations and is built of sturdy thick old timbers. It is distinctive for its five “bump” windows and an external decorative trim that has been highlighted in the painting of the exterior. The house now stands out as a distinctive “Painted Lady” in Shelburne’s Historic District. Inside, many sound plastered walls and ceilings remain. This two and a half storey house was divided into two apartments in the 1960s, but the original back kitchen staircase from the ground floor to the upper apartment still exists.
